AbstractThis paper purposes a preliminary assessment of radiometric data supplied by WFI sensor on board CBERS 2. For this, spectral field measurements were made on 10/03/2004, in a cultivated land with three soybean (Glycine max, L.) varieties located in the municipality of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. These measurements were made at 30 georeferenced points, scattered throughout the study area, using the spectroradiometer Fieldspec Pro FR. Through these measurements the WFI bands were simulated and compared with WFIs data, this proceeding were reproduced with MODIS - TERRA data (MOD 09), which is a widely used sensor in remote sensing community. For these field conditions, the WFI sensor showed high correlation (R^2 = 0,93) with the field means. As well the daily reflectance product (MOD 09) supplied by MODIS presented R^2 = 0,95. Showing the high potential applications of WFI sensor.
